The future of electric mobility looks bright, and Skoda’s latest offering — the Elroq — is a perfect glimpse of that. It’s compact, well-built, and carries a mature European charm.

While it’s not officially launched here yet, we got an exclusive chance to experience it up close — and it made us wonder: what if this EV actually came to India?

Design: Simple, Strong, and Stylish
Right from the first glance, the Skoda Elroq looks modern yet unmistakably Skoda. It introduces the brand’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language, and it’s full of clever touches. The standout feature is the Tech Deck — a sleek black panel that hides all the cameras, radar, and ADAS sensors neatly, instead of scattering them around the bumper.

At the front, the Elroq wears sharp DRLs, muscular lines on the bonnet, and sculpted air inlets that improve aerodynamics — something that’s crucial for EV efficiency. From the sides, it carries the typical Skoda stance, simple and confident, while the rear looks clean with crystalline LED tail lamps and bold SKODA lettering across the boot.

Boot space is a generous 470 litres, and in true Skoda fashion, you’ll find several Simply Clever touches — like a small net compartment for storing the charging cable, freeing up space below for luggage. It’s a small but thoughtful detail that Indian car buyers will surely appreciate.

Cabin Experience: Practical Luxury
Step inside, and you immediately feel that Skoda focus on quality. The interior layout is minimalist, premium, and designed for everyday practicality. The front seats are wide, comfortable, and supportive, while the rear offers ample knee and headroom even for taller passengers.

Although the battery pack slightly raises the floor, Skoda has cleverly contoured the seat base to offer decent under-thigh support — so long drives won’t leave you tired. There’s a handy removable centre tray, deep storage cubbies, cup holders, and wireless charging pads for your devices.

The highlight up front is the large 13-inch infotainment screen, paired with a smaller but crisp digital instrument display. Thankfully, not everything is touch-controlled — Skoda has kept physical buttons for important functions like drive modes, which Indian drivers will love for their convenience while driving.

Performance and Drive Feel
For Skoda Elroq Under the floor lies a 77 kWh battery pack, which powers the top-spec Elroq 85 version. It produces 285 horsepower and claims a range of around 560 km on a full charge. Skoda says it can sprint from 0–100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, but what stands out more than speed is how smooth it feels.

In the Skoda Elroq the throttle response is beautifully tuned — linear, predictable, and easy to control, especially in traffic. Power delivery builds up progressively rather than dumping all the torque at once, making it perfect for our Indian city conditions. Whether you’re gliding through crowded streets or overtaking on the highway, the Elroq feels composed and confident.

Ride and Handling: Firm Yet Comfortable
The Skoda Elroq measures about 4.4 to 4.5 metres in length, and it feels solidly planted on the road. The steering has just the right amount of weight — light enough for city use but reassuring at highway speeds.

The suspension is tuned on the firmer side, giving you that European tautness but still managing to soak up smaller bumps and uneven patches. Over Indian roads, that translates to a balanced ride — not too soft, not too stiff. On the open highway, it stays rock steady even at triple-digit speeds, with minimal wind and tyre noise creeping in.
Verdict: India Needs a Car Like This
After spending time with the Skoda Elroq, one thing is clear — this is a well-engineered, premium, and highly usable electric SUV. It’s built with attention to detail, drives beautifully, and feels ready for the future.

The sad part? Skoda has confirmed that bringing the Elroq to India might be difficult due to its high import cost. Unless they find a way to locally assemble or produce it here, pricing could push it beyond what most Indian EV buyers would be willing to pay.

Still, the Elroq gives us hope that Skoda is preparing the groundwork for a new generation of affordable, India-focused EVs. If they manage to localize something like this, it could easily become one of the most desirable electric SUVs in its class.

So what do you think — should Skoda bring the Elroq to India, or design a new electric SUV built especially for us?
