XUV400 Pro range Starting at an Introductory Price of INR 15.49 Lakh.
Just like the pro versions of mobile phones now we have pro versions of cars as well which is XUV400 Pro. Mahindra have introduced their new offering in the form of XUV400 PRO with a starting price of 15.49 Lakh in the Indian Market. Not mechanically different from earlier one but looks promising on paper. The power figures are sure to excite the readers but we still have to look into how these figures actually behave in real world scenario.
XUV400 Pro is launched in response to the fact that XUV400 was launched in 2023 but did not get the popularity it needed and the company has updated the electric SUV a few times already. Despite the frequent updates and massive discounts to push sales it has not worked so far. Now, in 2024, the carmaker has given the XUV400 its most significant update to date, to make it a compelling proposition.
XUV400 Pro boasts the all New 26.04cm infotainment system and a 26.04cm digital instrument cluster complementing the sophisticated dual tone interiors of the car with premium, and modern dashboard. This new infotainment system looks crisp and some of the features outshine some of the bigger segment cars for sure. The interface is somewhat similar to that of XUV700 and other Mahindra & Mahindra Vehicles.
The appearance of the car remains the same from outside but the few changes in the battery setup have spruced things up a little. The new steering wheel looks upmarket and is nice to hold. The copper twin peak logo looks elegant with blue border. Analogue dials of the outgoing car are replaced by a new, neatly executed digital instrument cluster which is easy to read and its MID comes loaded with information.
The seats are very comfortable and supportive. The space at the rear is quite good, and it’ll even accommodate three adults easily. The 378-litre boot remains unchanged, and is still well-shaped and quite practical.
Two new variants will be added to the electric SUV’s existing line-up – EC Pro with a 34.5kWh battery and EL Pro with either a 34.5kWh or 39.4kWh battery option. New features with this update include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay as well as connected car features. It also gets a wireless charging pad, rear air-con vents, USB-C charging and a 12V charging port at the rear, tyre pressure monitoring system; earlier it used to have only a tyre loss indicator.
The XUV400 Pro feels exactly the same from behind the wheel. The motor makes 150hp and 310Nm of torque. During our test run of the long range version (with the 39.4kWh battery) and in real-world, it has achieved 260 km in a mixed, city and highway scenario.
Fun (Eco), Fast (Normal) and Fearless (Sport) are the three drive modes – with Fun being the default mode. The power delivery is linear and performance feels more than adequate even in Fun mode. However, In fearless mode, the full potential of the motor is observed and you will experience stronger acceleration, and it goes on to hit a top speed of 160kph, which is restricted to 90kph in Fun mode.
The other notable feature which are provided in the vehicle are sunroof which is not a panoramic one although it is speculated that the XUV300 refresh might get the big sunroof when it comes sometimes in first half of 2024. Xuv400 pro gets 6 airbags for a complete safety parameter. The rear AC vent is also provided for the added convenience.
Some miss opportunities in the car are absence of ventilated seats for added comfort as compared to the competition in the market at the same price point.
